Morocco, Destination of Energetic Innovation with EDF Pulse Africa Tour
After Nairobi and Pretoria, EDF Pulse Africa settled in Casablanca on Wednesday 25th October 2023 for his North African Step. Eight startups showcased their project before a jury composed of regional experts in energy sector at the occasion of the French Tech Maroc 10 years Anniversary with the collaboration of the CFCIM. This high scale event reaffirmed the crucial role of the innovation to reshape the future of the Energy in the African Continent.

Among several companies involved in innovative decarbonization projects, three candidates were rewarded for their outstanding work, which are perfectly aligned with the continent’s current needs. The entrepreneurs presented their works to a panel of specialists including: Hicham El Abid, CEO of EDF Maroc, Chris Anderson Ahoua Boua, Head of Communications EDF Africa, Jerome Mouthon, Head of Kluster CFCIM, Omar Benaicha, CEO of AMO and Head of Sustainability at Certi Trust Group, Nawal Chraibi, Head of Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research at the Polytechnic University Mohammed VI and Youssef Mamou, CEO of YoLa Fresh.
After deliberation, the jury awarded three prizes: The EDF Pulse Africa Price and two others price “Coup de Coeur” et “Coup de Pouce” to three Moroccan and Tunisian companies in the presence of H.E.M Christophe Le Courtier, Ambassador of France in Morocco.
The EDF Pulse Africa Prize was awarded to Advanced Third Age Renewable Energies Company (ATAREC)
This Moroccan startup give the opportunity to open a possibility to a sustainable marine energy thanks to her solution, the Wave Beat. An energy technology patented over 70 countries which has proved its effectiveness at the Port of Tanger.
The French Tech Prize was rewarded to AZA PETROSULTIONS
Another company from Morocco, which is specialized in providing innovative fuel management services and solutions, with the aim of influencing the oil industry in Morocco and internationally.
The prize Coup de Pouce by the jury was granted to Bako Motors
This Tunisian startup which is specialized in electric vehicles manufacture. Founded in 2015, she is positioning itself as a promising actor of the electric mobility in Tunisia and MENA. (Middle East and North Africa).
ATAREC joins the finalists Pylon, Knights Energy Kenya and SeaH4 PTY Ltd for the EDF Pulse Africa "Grand Final" that will be held in December 2023. They will have the possibility to win 20,000 euros and be part of the EDF Pulse Africa Accelerator Community. A program bringing together engaged contributors supporting and growing African young companies in the field of energy access.
