Makeover for old buildings

  • Makeover for old buildings

From top to bottom

Two EDF subsidiaries – Dalkia and Dalkia Smart Building – have worked on a project to improve the energy performance of 255 buildings across 42 municipalities in the Seine-Maritime administrative department in France on behalf of the social landlord Habitat 76. The work includes 130,000 square metres of reroofing and the thermal insulation of cellars and roof cavities. This large-scale refurbishment programme is emblematic of the enormous reserve of potential energy savings that can be made in older housing.

255 buildings refurbished

120,000 m2 of renovated roofing

80,000 m2 of roof cavity insulated

50,000 m2 of cellars insulated

But wait, there’s more!

This thermal refurbishment work was combined with another project: the installation of 190 photovoltaic solar plants. It is the largest PV programme in the housing segment in France to date. The 32,000 square metres surface area of PV panels installed can produce 3.7 megawatts of electricity – enough to power around 800 households. EDF Optimal Solutions has committed to this level of low-carbon energy production for 20 years.

100 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided annually(1)
