Let there be light - but cheaper and more responsible

  • Let there be light - but cheaper and more responsible

Light better and less

Fifty percent* – that’s the share of public lighting in French municipalities’ electricity consumption. For cities like Sète that have signed up to the Energy Cities energy transition programme, public lighting can significantly improve their environmental performance. That’s why Sète signed a contract in 2013 with EDF subsidiary Citelum and Sogetralec, two public lighting experts.

20%: commitment to reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020 (Energy Cities)

50%: targeted energy savings within four years

From control cabinets to traffic lights

The urban lighting renovation programme being implemented in Sète is based on a comprehensive approach ranging from traffic light supervision to replacing control cabinets. The services include:
  • installation of more efficient and less polluting equipment and light sources
  • rollout of electricity consumption regulation systems (remote management of light points, astronomical clock to adjust the power consumed as a function of the time of day, etc.)
  • installation of new equipment to encourage softer and safer mobility.

3,091 LED light points & 167 light poles with a presence sensor installed
