Energy transition of cities An increasing number of local authorities are heading down the energy transition path to reduce their energy bill and improve their environmental footprint. As a local authority partner, Dalkia provides them with innovative solutions for developing renewables and new contract models. These include Energy Performance Contracts under which Dalkia commits to tangible and lasting results. One example is the contract signed with Sète in 2014.
Dalkia’s response for the city of Sète This Energy Performance Contract covers the heating and ventilation systems for 105 municipal buildings and three aquatic centres. The outcome, particularly positive for the city, is a 26% reduction in the municipal buildings’ energy consumption and a 33% reduction for the aquatic centres. Attention has also been turned to using renewable energy with the installation of three seawater heat pumps, coupled with 300 square metres of solar canopies at the Fonquerne aquatic centre. The equipment supplies a mini-heating network that further improves the city’s environmental and energy targets.
