The first fully solar-powered micro grid

EDF is paving the way to self-sufficiency in energy with a micro grid which combines solar panels and a hydrogen storage system. This system is the first of its kind in the world and will supply the 300 families living in the Cirque de Mafate region of Reunion Island. Initially, buildings will be supplied with electricity around the clock, including at night and in bad weather. Households will be connected to the solar farm and self-sufficient in energy, avoiding the need for generators and petrol.
