Our offer

6 laboratories dedicated to EDF Lab Les Renardières (77)

Six laboratories covering the entire development chain, from research to deployment in electrical systems by our operational units.

  • One laboratory dedicated to electrochemical analysis and post-mortem diagnostics of batteries
  • Two specialized laboratories:
    • Lithium-ion – for stationary storage and electric vehicles
    • Lead-acid and nickel-cadmium – for backup power supply in power plants
  • One laboratory dedicated to pack and module testing:
    • Unique high-power / high-voltage test benches
    • BMS testing at operational limits
  • One outdoor laboratory dedicated to abuse testing, designed to safely perform extreme-condition experiments on batteries
    • Including battery drop tests
  • Concept Grid, a unique platform testing large-scale battery systems through innovative experiments

  • Recognised expertise: member of the RS2E national electrochemical storage network
  • An international network and extensive knowledge of battery applications
  • Partnerships for additional tests (for example: STEEVE platform with INERIS)
  • A research laboratory in the field of new generation batteries

Use case examples

Local authorities and renewable energy installers: Tests and assessment of battery solutions on electric buses or renewable energy farms in isolated areas or on constrained networks (references: 20 MW on the PJM network in the USA and 50 MW for the National Grid in the United Kingdom).

Start-ups: Work with many French and international start-ups wishing to test their innovations.

Vehicle manufacturers and battery manufacturers: Tests and assessment of batteries, standardisation, data collection, exchange of technological road maps.
