Against this backdrop, NatureMetrics—supported by EDF Pulse Ventures and drawing on the expertise of EDF Pulse Design—has launched Global Nature Risk, a new risk screening layer, in the NatureMetrics Nature Intelligence Platform, that helps businesses turn nature disclosure into action.
A platform designed to help businesses make better decisions
The Global Nature Risk solution marks a new addition to NatureMetrics’ digital product portfolio, complementing its core offering built on environmental DNA (eDNA) and biodiversity data management with a digital experience tailored to decision-making. Global Nature Risk brings together a business's impacts on nature, its dependencies on nature, and the integrity of nature itself, turning these into a 0–1 risk score for every site, asset or geography. This gives a clear view of nature-related risk, whether at a single-site level or across multi-site portfolios, supported by insights that can be readily used by both CSR teams and operational stakeholders.
Aligned with the TNFD framework, Global Nature Risk supports double materiality assessments—helping businesses report both the financial risks nature poses to them and their own impacts on nature.
Supported by EDF Pulse Ventures' investment in its late-2024 funding round, NatureMetrics accelerated its shift towards a more digital, SaaS-based model. This pivot acted as a catalyst to explore, define and bring the NatureMetrics Intelligence Platform to life, addressing growing organisational needs around understanding biodiversity-related risks and aligning with evolving regulatory expectations.

A collaboration with EDF Pulse Design to make data more accessible
In the early stages of development,NatureMetrics partnered with EDF Pulse Design, the EDF Group’s design lab, to explore initial concepts for making complex nature risk data more accessible.

“We focused on bringing the product to life through prototypes, enabling us to visualise both the data and the user journey. In particular, we made use of ‘vibe coding’—leveraging generative AI to prompt interface concepts—so we could quickly put forward relevant design directions to NatureMetrics. The challenge was to present large volumes of complex scientific data in a way that remains accessible to a range of user profiles”
Through a series of collaborative workshops, the teams explored use cases, tested different ways of presenting information, and shaped a clear product vision.
