Commited to serving all French people for 80 years, EDF is deploying €240 million to help consumers and industrial players acquire heat pumps and electric heavy goods vehicles, and to support the installation of electricity-consuming industries in France.

Through a €240 million commitment, both directly and via a support fund that other partners may join, EDF is committing to accelerate the transition to electric solutions in France:

  • Through the support fund, a flat-rate grant of €1,000, combined with existing schemes such as MaPrimeRénov’, will be paid to 80,000 low-income households for the installation of a heat pump (HP) meeting the highest French and European standards, replacing a gas or oil boiler. With the support of state aid, this grant helps make heat pumps an economically obvious alternative to gas boilers.
  • Through the support fund, €30 million in purchase subsidies will be granted to transport operators converting diesel trucks into electric heavy goods vehicles (limited to a maximum of two vehicles per SME). The average subsidy will be €15,000 per truck. In addition, €50 million will be allocated to the installation of 180 charging stations for long-distance electric trucks across mainland France within three years. These stations, open to all, will allow drivers to recharge their vehicles along their routes.

  • €80 million will be dedicated to supporting projects for the installation of new electricity-consuming industries in France. EDF will offer turnkey sites with grid connections, thereby reducing industrial setup timelines.

According to Bernard Fontana, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the EDF Group:
“For 80 years, the EDF Group has been supplying the French people with competitive, sovereign and low-carbon electricity.
Today, more than ever, we want to accelerate the electrification of uses in order to help the country reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, particularly gas and oil.
With this €240 million financial commitment, EDF is taking concrete action to support households, transport operators and industrial players in electrifying their uses, and to encourage the establishment of new activities in France, in the service of purchasing power and France’s energy and industrial sovereignty.”
