Overall objective : to strengthen the technical R&D Authority

Scope : all products/development of the I&C BU

Role :

-        New technology/products :
o   To launch deep dive on new ideas / innovations,
o   To define the main technical domain to be pushed in Upstream
o   To analyze new technologies available on the market
o   To push new developments proposal with the R&D Director until the validation of the steerlead by :
§  Supporting R&D project/product owners in developing all justifications needed for decision
§  Leading the definition of the best overall solution :
·        Functions needed
·        Available technologies/products to answer the functions needed
·        Development definition if needed (to be reduced at a maximum)
ð  Example TXS Compact Phase 3

-        Product Strategy :
o   To support the R&D Director to define the product portfolio strategy by bringing the technical constraints and potential solutions
ð  Example Priority Logic Strategy

-        R&D Roadmap
o   To validate(and arbitrate) technically the R&D projects for the coming years

-        Pre-Offer/Opportunities Phase for new products introduction :
o   To work with Solutions Managers  and System Architect to guide quickly toward the right product to be used :
§  quick feasibility study
§  first dimensioning
§  identification of the potential new designs to be done
§  and then help on doing the best offer possible
ð  Example TXS Compact/Hardline Offer

-        Competitors :
o   To analyze the competitors technologies :
§  To raise some risks if needed
§  To launch some improvements of our technology if needed
§  To define our technical positioning on the market

-        R&D Development :
o   To ensure that the technical objectives will be achieved with the current design
o   To ensure that all needed features/actions are included in the development to have at the end a product ready to be used
o   To ensure that all targeted projects will have the adequate features to use the product

-        Technical presentation :
o   To promote our technologies/products in different conference/event with technical presentations
o   To support Sales Team/Solution Manager to promote new products in front of customers

o   Support for 4YP Roadmap definition
o   Supporting R&D product owners in developing all justifications needed for decision of evolution

o   Participate to the review to ensure completeness of the product regarding the needs
-        With System Architect
o   Support the architect for the new products/development to optimize their architecture
