Geosolar heat pump for a forward-looking campus

  • Geosolar heat pump for a forward-looking campus

Campus with a vision

EDF Energy’s future low-carbon experts will from now on be trained in Cannington, southwest England. The UK company has pulled out all the stops in its conversion of this 12th century convent into a forward-looking campus, open to the outside world to share knowledge and better tackle the issues of climate change.

High efficiency geosolar solution

Innovation was the name of the game for this centre dedicated to low-carbon energy study programmes. EDF Energy took an innovative approach using a high efficiency geosolar heat pump. As a result, 100% of the centre’s heating and cooling needs are provided by renewable energy, thereby halving CO2 emissions compared with a conventional gas installation. And to top it all, the solar panels coupled to the heat pump feed power to electric car charge points around the campus.
