Chemdoc Water Technonologies is a French SME that designs and assembles containerised systems for the filtration, purification and demineralisation of water from surface water and wastewater recycling.
With its membrane filtration modules, Chemdoc Water Technologies is able to supply water of different qualities: demined, ultrapure, process and ingredient water.
The solution is mainly used by manufacturers in the energy, agri-food and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as by local authorities, to reduce their withdrawals from surface water reserves (groundwater and rivers).
EDF Pulse Ventures acquired a stake in the company in 2024.

Water is a scarce resource that is essential to energy production. Chemdoc Water Technologies' expertise will enable the EDF Group to strengthen its commitment to protecting this natural resource and reducing its own water consumption. Thanks to the know-how and innovation of this SME, EDF will be able to strengthen the sustainability of its operations while responding to the growing tensions surrounding water. In addition, the Group will be able to support its industrial customers and local authorities on these crucial issues, which are at the heart of the energy transition and perfectly in line with its raison d'être.

EDF and startups
Gearing up the energy transition
Julien Villeret, Chief Innovation Officer – EDF Group:
You might not realize it, but EDF plays a leading role in water resource management in France. Water is central to what we do: it generates electricity through dams. But water is also used as a cooling source: a cooling source for power plants, for our nuclear power plants, or for our gas-fired power plants, for example. But this resource, essential for the planet, has to be carefully managed because it's shared across multiple uses. That's why EDF has long been committed to preserving water resources and ensuring they’re used sustainably and in coordination with others. And this is why Chemdoc Water Technologies caught our attention: they've developed a solution to filter, purify, and recycle water.
Salvador Perez – CEO - Chemdoc Water Technologies:
The Chemdoc Water Technologies project started with the aim of improving the water footprint of industries by reducing withdrawals from the natural environment. Our clients are in various industrial segments, such as energy, food processing, pharmaceuticals, metals, in short, all types of manufacturing companies.
Julien Villeret, Chief Innovation Officer – EDF Group:
Chemdoc Water Technologies' solution is already helping EDF reduce water consumption at facilities we operate directly or through our clients. Because our commitment to responsible water management is obviously shared by our industrial partners.
Salvador Perez – CEO - Chemdoc Water Technologies:
Chemdoc brought something new to advanced separation techniques, such as membranes and electrochemistry, to recycle water without using chemicals and with efficient use of energy. We have kind of revolutionised the business of equipment design and manufacturing through an innovative business model, since we offer mobile solutions in containers to our clients.
Julien Villeret, Chief Innovation Officer – EDF Group:
Through this investment, EDF is helping Chemdoc grow, particularly in France and Europe, and accelerate the deployment of innovative solutions that address water efficiency challenges, for industries and communities.
Salvador Perez – CEO - Chemdoc Water Technologies:
Today, Chemdoc has a turnover of € 5 million, with a projected turnover of €30 million by 2029. We are going to develop solutions to help decarbonize the industry and set it on a path toward resilience and positive-impact economic growth.
Julien Villeret, Chief Innovation Officer – EDF Group:
Our goal is clear: promote smarter water use for the benefit of all stakeholders and the preservation of this vital resource.
