EDF, unique nuclear expertise
EDF has internationally recognised experience and expertise in the operation of existing reactors and the decommissioning of those that have been permanently shut down.
With the French nuclear sector, EDF stands ready to design and build new generations of power plants which, alongside reneweable energies, will guarantee the country's electricity supply and help reach carbon neutrality.
The life of a nuclear power plant in 4 stages:
-
Conception
EDF offers a range of different nuclear reactors that meet the particular requirements of countries and electricity systems worldwide, with no impact on climate or local natural resources.
-
Construction
For over 40 years, the Group has been building nuclear power plants that meet the highest standards of nuclear safety. Every project gives rise to an environmental impact study, and proposes unobtrusive architectural and landscaping solutions.
-
Production
As the main electricity supplier in France, the nuclear fleet is capable of generating all year and in all weathers the electricity needed by businesses and households.
-
Decommissioning
Decommissioning is an integral part of the lifecycle of a nuclear power plant. It takes place in 3 stages: the final shutdown of the power plant, the dismantling of the non-nuclear part, and the dismantling of the reactor building.
