A2P Energy

A startup that aims to solve the crop residue burning problems, increase the farmers income and at the same time convert crop residue into NextGen biofuels.

Testimony

"It was a pleasure to be part of EDF pulse India initiative. The whole process was well executed and it also helped us to think more deeper on our work and impact. We hope that our journey with the EDF team continues and we get to learn and mentor from the EDF team to scale on our work on low carbon and green energy products."

Sukhmeet Singh - Founder of A2P Energy
The team

A2P Energy works to solve the crop burning problem in North India: India produces 500-550 million tonnes of crop residue every year. In the states of Punjab and Haryana, 35 millions tonnes of paddy straw is left over after harvesting, most if which is burned. This residue burning causes serious air pollution that is responsible for public health emergencies in the capital of India (Delhi) every winter. Scientists at Harvard University mention in a recent study. “On certain days, during peak fire season, air pollution in Delhi which is located downwind of the fire is about 20 times higher than the threshold for safe air as defined by WHO," which had caused Delhi to be the most polluted Capital in the world.

A2P Energy’s competitive edge is the use of technology to solve the crop residue burning problem in terms of collection and processing. A2P Energy uses AI to track waste biomass and then works with farmers to collect and buy that. On one side it generates additional income for farmers and on the other side A2P converts the collected biomass into NextGen biofuels like energy pellets, green coal and biooil.
