With Hi’Light, EDF is tackling energy waste in towns and cities. This smart street lighting system promises up to 80% savings compared to the best technologies currently available. How does it work? The lamp-posts are equipped with highly-sensitive long-distance motion sensors capable of distinguishing between a pedestrian, a car and a cat…
No more wasting electricity by lighting up the streets for no reason. The light flow changes shape, focus and intensity to match urban activity. This innovation will be developed by a consortium consisting chiefly of Citelum, the EDF subsidiary specialising in public lighting solutions and Kawantech, the start-up that won the EDF Pulse Smart City Award in 2016.
Hi’Light will exceed all savings scenarios that have been tested so far, including programmes to turn off lights, which have been implemented in some communities, and will ensure high-quality lighting, public safety and a reduction in light pollution in our urban districts.
