As former elite athletes, the members of the KINVENT team have all experienced injuries in their constant quest for performance. They also understand the importance of having their physical trainers and physical therapists provide support tailormade to their personal needs. Given that 30% of patients do not complete their rehabilitation programme, and others give up sport entirely because they’re dissatisfied with their progress, they wanted to extend the methods available to elite athletes to as many people as possible.
As designers of the first centralised performance analysis platform for rehabilitation, KINVENT measures personal strength, movement and balance in under twenty seconds. By linking biomechanical sensors with an app, the start-up provides coaches and PT alike with the ability to make an objective analysis of physical capabilities. The system then calculates targeted work programmes that allow coaches and physical therapists to optimise supervision and performance without compromising motivation. The result is an average increase in muscle strength of 20%.
Many sportsmen are on the KINVENT leadership team: CEO Athanase, a biomechanical engineer who was injured many times playing rugby, Benoît, also a biomechanical engineer and motion analysis expert, Nick, the app developer, and lastly Emmanuel, the sensor designer. They and their team are based both in France and Greece.
All of us on the leadership team have been elite athletes competing in rowing, rugby, climbing, athletics and swimming. Throughout our competitive lives and since, we’ve always wanted to measure our own performance. But the resources we had were independent of each other, not precise enough and not sufficiently motivational. But we came to realise that we could do something about that. So to kick-start our revenue stream, we focused on rehab for athletes. And now we’re ready to achieve hyper-growth in the sports market.
What are the most recent developments for your start-up?
Over the last four months, we’ve provided assistance to three more League 1 football teams, three Top 14 rugby teams (French rugby union league), 6 teams from the Spanish League, and the Mayo Clinic.
What’s been the most unexpected thing that’s happened as a result of the start-up?
Meeting Phillip Mills, CEO of Les Mills, the world leader in fitness. He believes in the unique benefits of our solution, which is set to revolutionise world sport.
So how does your project revolutionise your category?
