A true condensate of its different subsidiaries’ know-how, the offer of solutions made available by EDF will be part and parcel of making the Paris 2024 Games a sustainable development showcase
It’s only when seen from above that the Athletes’ Village bus station roof shows its main strength: a roof completely covered in solar panels.
Solar shade in the Athletes’ Village
Protected from the sun and the elements, will the athletes looking for a place to take a break be able to guess the role of Athletes’ Village the bus station roof? From the ground, how can you imagine that its 800m² of flexible solar panels will supply the Team Processing Centre? The shading structure will produce 110kWc, thereby covering about 25% of the electricity needs of this structure reserved for the reception and information of the international delegations of athletes, all using auto-consumption. This temporary installation is a newly emerging local electricity production model EDF ENR.
Installed on the river Seine close to the Athletes’ Village, this floating solar farm will be fully removable.
A floating solar farm on the river Seine
A new type of solar farm on the river Seine will be creating the buzz. Mobile, floating, removable, it will be able to produce 78kWc of electricity using its 400m² of photovoltaic surface area. The equivalent of the consumption of about 94 apartments in the Olympic and Paralympic Village! This installation will be created with the participation of the EDF Hydraulic Engineering Centre.
Electric vehicle charging stations
Supplied by Izivia, an EDF Group subsidiary, no less than 800 charging stations will be made available to the official delegations. Spread over 3 sites, this infrastructure will contribute to limiting the transport-related carbon footprint during the Paris 2024 Games.
