Empair

Secure connections on distributed industrial sites

The security of industrial sites is a fundamental issue for their integrity. EMPAIR (Modular Equipment for the Protection of Distributed Industrial Access) is a cybersecurity gateway that protects multiple industrial sites and their central system. It provides the information exchange with enhanced security against cyberattacks. To achieve this, EMPAIR brings together the full range of protection and monitoring functionalities and strategies in a single product.

Project developed by the EDF group.

Benefits

  • Provide a level of security that meets company requirements
  • Maintain the security of industrial data
  • Avoid major negative impact on the company

EMPAIR combines all cyber security functionalities and strategies for distributed industrial sites in a single system. EDF's R&D worked on a Cyber security by Design approach to analyse risks before designing the product to address them. It was thus able to integrate software and hardware protection measures into a single system, a differentiating element on the market.

EDF has developed expertise across the entire process, from design stage to manufacture of short runs for tests and field pilots. For the design of the core equipment, EDF worked in partnership with a JEI (Jeune Entreprise Innovante), a young innovative company, to propose a viable solution within a set budget.

This project is currently in an experimental and pre-market phase. A certification process has been initiated with the French national cybersecurity agency (ANSSI).
