The EDF Group was one of the first to set, right from 2018, the objective to contribute to the achievement of the carbon neutrality by 2050 . In 2020, the EDF Group set new objectives to decrease greenhouse gases by 2030, including at the same time its direct emissions (scope 1) and its indirect emissions (scope 2 and 3).

The CO 2 emission reduction targets that the EDF Group set itself in early 2020, covering both its direct emissions (scope 1) and indirect emissions (scope 2 and 3), were validated by Science Based Targets as being aligned with" a Well Below 2 °C" trajectory in accordance with their specifically developed methodology for the electricity sector.

EDF Group already has one of the best low-carbon generation mixes in Europe and the world* . To work towards the Paris Agreement goal of limiting the increase in global average temperature to 1 5 °C, EDF Group has committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through: reducing its direct CO2 emissions to zero or close to zero; reducing its indirect emissions as much as possible within the framework of national policies in force; and offsetting residual emissions through negative emission projects.
