The total amount of waste fell 56 % between 2017 and 2018, driven by the reduction in extraction activity at Santa Maria a Mare (down 71 %) . Excluding the Santa Maria à Mare figure, non- hazardous waste increased 83 % . This in turn impacted recycled waste, which increased 10 % (amount varying depending on the nature of hazardous and non- hazardous waste that could be recycled).

Cyclife waste-metal treatment facility in Sweden in the process to restart | EDF Cyclife

The damages after the fire accident are connected to the insulation material of a wall and parts of the roof construction in the Large Component Treatment facility and parts of the roof in the Hot Cutting hall. The incident has not resulted in any emissions of radioactivity outside the facility.

All of the teams are mobilized and ready to restart operations in the waste-metal treatment facility before the end of 2020... This classification qualifies an anomaly without consequences for workers and no impact on the exterior of the installation. The other parts of the facility, including incineration or pyrolysis treatment activities, and the non- nuclear services, operate normally.
