The Vietnamese government confirms the EDF Group's position as leader of the consortium in charge of the studies for the building of a 2000-MW combined-cycle power plant at Son My | EDF Asie

With an installed capacity of 2000 MW, the Son My 1 project, which uses Combined Cycle Gas Turbine technology, is due to be commissioned by 2023/2024, with a view to meeting the strong and growing demand for electrical power in the south of Vietnam... EDF is already active in Vietnam via its Mekong Energy Company subsidiary (56 25 %) . The company operates the Phu My 2 2 facility, which comprises two combined-cycle plants with a total capacity of 715 MW.

The EDF Group commissions its first renewable energy facility in the United Arab Emirates | EDF Middle East

On Monday 30th April 2018, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, accompanied by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), His Excellency Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State in the UAE Cabinet, CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC Group) and Chairman of MASDAR, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (MASDAR), and by Jean Bernard Lévy, the EDF Group's Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, in the presence of His Excellency Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE, and Bruno Bensasson, Group Executive Vice-President in charge of Renewables, inaugurated 200 MW of solar capacity in the Emirate of Dubai.

The Dongtai IV and V offshore wind farms account for a total installed capacity of 500 MW and will be the EDF Group's first offshore projects in China... The Dongtain IV projet is currently being built; the construction of Dongtai V is scheduled to begin in 2019 . Subject to the signing of the final contracts, both partners will build and operate a total installed capacity of 500 MW, which will be gradually commissioned by 2021.

Thermal power in Asia: coal and gas fired power plants

Since 2009 EDF has been a 35 % shareholder in, a fossil fired power plant using supercritical technology with a total capacity of 2x600 MW. EDF also has a 19 6 % share of, the owner of three fossil fired power plants with a total capacity of 3060 MW . EDF's involvement with SZPC represents the largest joint venture project ever developed in the Chinese power sector.

Fleet upgrade | EDF France

Construction began on 1 935 MW of (CCGT) capacity between 2011 and 2015... in Martigues, two CCGT units with a combined capacity of 930 MW began operating in 2012 and 2013... Lastly, 880 MW of combustion turbine (CT) capacity was installed to round out the fleet between 2008 and 2010 . The 1 811 MW fleet using natural gas and/or fuel oil ensures enough electricity can be generated to meet demand at all times.

Renewable Energy in the North and South America

In South America, the company entered the renewable energy market with the creation of EDF EN do Brasil and is building its first project, Ventos da Bahia with a capacity of 70 MW .
