Welds in the main secondary system of the Flamanville EPR: EDF sets up corrective actions and adjusts schedule and target construction costs | EDF France

As of 25 July 2018, EDF has inspected 148 of the 150 welds in the main secondary system 1 of the Flamanville EPR and continued to exchange with the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), as announced in previous press releases dated 10 April and 31 May 2018 2 . The two remaining welds will be inspected before the end of July 2018.

AREVA, together with EDF, has recommended to the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) to adapt the testing programme of the Flamanville 3 EPR reactor vessel head and bottom as decided at the end of 2015. Initial analyses conducted on two parts similar to those at Flamanville 3 have shown that the carbon segregation phenomena extend beyond mid- thickness on one of them .

Flamanville EPR : qualification tests continue on reactor vessel | EDF FR

AREVA and EDF have informed the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) that a new series of tests is underway as of April 2015 for the qualification of the Flamanville EPR reactor vessel head and bottom... The EDF and AREVA teams are working to perform the additional tests as soon as possible, following approval by the ASN on the test conditions, and to provide the safety authority with all the necessary information to demonstrate the safety and quality of the corresponding equipment.
