EDF Energies Nouvelles signs a power purchase agreement for solar project in the US
enXco, EDF Energies Nouvelles US subsidiary, announced it has entered into a power purchase agreement with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for a 130 MWp(1) solar photovoltaic facility in California.
Located in Kern County, California, the Catalina solar project will be developed, built and owned by enXco while SDG&E will buy the power generated under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The power plant will be built in two phases with the first 60 MWp expected to be online by the end of 2012 and the remaining 70 MWp to be operational by mid-2013. This project is subject to California Public Utilities Commission approval. “The Catalina photovoltaic project represents the Group’s largest power plant developed in the U.S.,” said Tristan Grimbert, president and CEO of enXco. “This agreement illustrates our successful solar business expansion in North America.”
