NUWARD is the EDF Group’s subsidiary dedicated to development and deployment of its NUWARD SMR. The company is developing a new small-scale modular reactor which will complement EDF’s range of nuclear power plant offers, in order to meet the growing worldwide demand for controllable and carbon-free power generation facilities.

YOUR ASSIGNMENTS 💬

You will report to the NUWARD SMR Project Qualification and Test Manager, and be charge of leading activities associated with experimentation, including representing this discipline in the broader NUWARD SMR Project context.

You will report to the C&S (Technical Codes & Standards) - NPE (Nuclear Pressurized Equipment) coordinator of the NUWARD SMR project and will manage the activities related to the Nuclear Pressurized Equipment. The project leans on many innovations (plate steam generator, electrical vessel penetrations, metallic containment, …) to simplify the design and lower and undercut the specific investment cost. These innovations can be subjected to NPE regulation. More generally, the PE / NPE regulation has to be taken into account on NUWARD SMR model.

 

Your assignments will consist in: 

  • Offer and pilot the strategy for PE / NPE application (on innovation subjected to NPE and more generally the global installation); 
  • Specify the baseline adaptations to allow compatibility with export context; 
  • Pilot and organize the implementation of document supporting the NPE regulation application; 
  • Pilot the discussions with the French Nuclear Safety Authority (NSA) to achieve acknowledgement of NPE strategy on NUWARD SMR equipment; 
  • Pilot and monitor the technical activities of partners; 
    Organize and realize the meetings and reviews needed for the activites; 
  • Identify the risks and pilot the mitigation actions.

 

Location 📍  

Job based in Lyon with some travel to other EDF sites (Paris, Tours) and to partner engineering sites (TechnicAtome in Aix-en-Provence, Naval Group in Nantes, CEA in Cadarache, Framatome in Lyon).

You have extensive knowledge or experience in : 

  • NPE (nuclear pressurized equipment) and PE (pressurized equipment) regulation; 
  • Code and standards (french / european / international context); 
  • Material and welding; 
  • Design engineering process; 
  • Component manufacturing process.
